Climate Control Panel

hello everyone , have a 2001 115 bhp gal ghia tdi and the climate panel display is worn out , doesnt show all the numbers , replaced with one off ebay but when in i lose all control of trip computer ,also on start up panel flashes 5 times can anybody guide me in right direction .... please thank you john

There are different model of Climate Control units...I am not sure if they are all compatible....this could be upsetting the central electronics in your vehicle....I have a MK1 and am not entirely sure what the MK2 trip computer displays.

 

The flashing 5 times on start up indicates a fault with your Climate Control System...this could be anything from low gas to a stuck flap...you would need to either interogate it with vag-com or similar or possibly deduce the fault from the symptoms.
